  Western Asia: water supply data

Some 59 million more people have gained access to drinking water supply in Western Asia between 1990 and 2004. This represents an overall 3% increase in this region.

The most important progress in terms of coverage has been made in rural areas (+ 9%) with some 15 million more people served. The extra 45 million people that have gained access to drinking water supply in urban areas represent a 3% increase only.
