  South-Eastern Asia: sanitation data
 

South-Eastern Asia has seen good progress in terms of percentage of population served: the coverage increasing by some 18%. This amounts to 149 million more people that have gained access to improved sanitation in 14 years (1990-2004).

There has been a 11% increase in coverage in urban areas (+ 95 million) and a 16% coverage improvement in rural areas (+ 55 million people).
