Latin America & Caribbean: sanitation data

Most of the efforts to serve people with adequate sanitation have been made in urban areas with some 112 million more people connected between 1990 and 2004. These efforts have been just about sufficient to keep up with the increase of urban dwellers (+ 112 million).

Rural areas of Latin America and the Caribbean have seen noticeable progress: the percentage of people served with adequate sanitation facilities having risen by some 13% (+ 16 million).
