The following pages present sanitation coverage data at different scales (from global to regional) providing both total access and house connections data.

The «total access» takes into account all improved sanitation facilities be they privately or publicaly owned (see definition of "improved sanitation facilities").

The «house connections» only take into account domestic connections that are connected to a sewerage system and therefore excluds septic tanks or dry sanitation, even if privately owned.

Please note that the figures found in the different JMP reports may differ from those found in this website since data is regularly being updated with new evidence!
